Different children often require a different approach to fundamental life skills. Each Stepping Stone Skills workshop and coaching session is designed to provide varied fundamental life skill strategies, applicable to specific challenges and situations our children are experiencing today. Stepping Stone Skills workshops and coaching are based on scientific and medical evidence, mindfulness, collaboration and hands-on play. Each 1 hour once per week workshop and coaching session include varied strategies for the participants to learn and practice so they can find what best works specifically for them.
Each participant goes home from each workshop with a game or other physical tool used during the workshop. Worksheets are provided after each workshop for the participants and guardians to reference and practice the learned material. It is encouraged for the participants and their guardian(s) to schedule a set time per week to sit with each other and play the workshop game (taught to the guardian(s) by the participant) and complete the worksheets together. A summary of the workshop and the participants’ experiences are sent via email or text message (guardian’s preference) to each participant’s guardian(s) after each workshop. Part of each workshop includes the participants vocalizing what they had learned during the workshop, engaging in discussions, asking questions, role playing and applying the learned tools to their own lives.
We believe the best way to learn is by doing. That's why our in-person peer group workshops are designed to be interactive, collaborative and hands-on. Your children will have the opportunity to apply what they learn in real-world situations, so they can immediately see the impact of their new skills.
The Stepping Stone Skills peer groups are organized into ages 9-11, 12-14 and 15-18. Each peer group workshop is 1 hour per week.
